Data Acquisition Boards
Performance like this really matters in sonar and in other spectral analysis applications: monitoring vibrating and rotating assemblies in the automotive, aerospace, and power generation industries, for example. Performance, reliability, straightforward system integration, and long-term availability are key features of these modules. The D.Module.BIOS encapsulates the board hardware, handles all initialization tasks, and provides a programming interface for the on-board peripherals.
Advances in radar, sonar, sigint and broadband comms technology over the years have been no less than staggering. Yet the role of the data acquisition subsystems at the heart of those applications remains the same. Advantech plug-in I/O solutions meet all your requirements in most general purpose Machine Automation applications. Both positioning control and velocity control are supported. Advertisements can be seen in PC Magazine starting with its premier issue in April 1982 and continuing for a number of years.
Advantages offered by modular platforms include better modularity, increased bus slots and throughputs, multi-vendor compatibility, reduced testing time, and durability. ADC Telecommunications is a global provider of broadband communications network infrastructure products. Co.’s products are designed to enable the delivery of Internet, data, video and voice communications over wireline, wireless, cable, enterprise and broadcast networks. Additionally, channels which incorporate isolation/signal conditioning may be mixed with non-isolated/conditioned channels. Isolated/conditioned channels can be added in 8-channel increments, and non-isolated/conditioned channels can be added in 16-channel increments.
Software compatibility offers a drop-in solution with existing software. OEM data acquisition product customization and engineering services available. Software controls each digital output by just one bit - setting the digital line high or low.
Users only have to look at standard features like autocalibration, fully screened connectors, detailed user manual, and a calibration certificate included with each board to know that quality is paramount in the minds of the developers. Users can compute the discrete Fourier, discrete cosine, Hilbert, and other transforms useful in analysis, coding, and filtering. The spectral analysis methods include Welch’s, Burg’s, modified covariance, Yule-Walker, multi-taper method, and the MUSIC method.
Sampling rate is a key parameter when specifying a data-acquisition board. Because of the Nyquist criteria, system designers should choose a board that can sample at least twice as fast as the frequency of the signal to be acquired. Sampled continuously over 2 days, the information from both channels would consume over 2.5 gigabytes of storage. Then there would be the daunting task of reducing the data to the simple peak voltage and current required by the test.
